3d Link's Awakening Final Update

And that's it! The Egg is complete, and with it, this nearly 2 year long project!

I had a lot of fun working on this, and would like to thank everyone who has followed me on this project, and everyone who has helped me.

I wish I could keep this going and make a full game out of it, but I lack the programming skills required to do so. Instead I am going to release the Soundtrack composed by the wonderful Dan Vithyavuthi for this project, as well as all my 3d models, maybe someone will find use for them.

I'm going to be on a temporary hiatus for a bit, as I am happy to announce that in August I will be moving from Washington to Orlando Florida to start an indie game company with some of my friends. I will also be doing more non-game projects, such as game reviews, let's plays, and a series about what I have learned as a game tester, in my free time. The hope is to get more active, get my name out there, and get some indie games released.

Links Awakening 3D OST vol 1
Songs can be found on YouTube as well

Note: Volume 1 of the OST contains all the songs Dan made before he had to quit due increasing work load from college. When he has the time I will commission him to finish up the remaining tracks and release them as Volume 2.

Models will be uploaded after they are cleaned up.

See you on the other side!

Well, I've been following this for a while, and all I can say is that I'm glad you managed to at least finish all the maps for the game. And hopefully someone skilled will continue this.

Though, are you going to be releasing the rest of the soundtrack that Dan was making? Or is what you uploaded all there was from the work he's done?

Hey man, Congrats on completing all the maps and getting this far. I hope somebody lets us know if they pick this up so we can follow them.

Anyways, good luck with that Indie game company. be sure to post the name so we can support your addict-- I mean company. :)

I recently found about your project, and I'm very impressed! I have a small question: Will the missing objects (bushes, owl statues, etc) be incluided in your models?

Also interesting would be to make an application like the chicken one, just to walk arround the whole island (if levels need to be left out, we'd understand :P)

Even without that app, we are all very happy with your work, and can't wait to see the models :D

Any object missing from the maps was one that the player can interact with, so they were modeled separately, they will be included.

I've got some test programs for level exploration I could probably release.

I can't believe it. I've been casually watching your updates via RSS for what seems like forever.

"Oh he made a new map. Cool. I wonder if he'll ever finish." I would say to myself.

And now you're done. All I can say is...

CONGRATULATIONS!

Hey. Its me, the guy who said he was gonna remake Zelda ALTTP in 3d. Well, your work has inspired me and I've decided to at least try to make the overworlds in 3d and make a game dedicated to exploring them. I also will try to take your models and do something similar with them. Good job. I am amazed at your work. Also, check out this video:(not done by me) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YmjpFw4KWI

nice job! xD

If you are still looking for programmers, you should take this project on over to Unity3d.com. That engine will be very capable as well as there might be programmers interesting in assisting you in your project.

Unknown said...

@Norman The music and 3d model files are all available for download, I couldn't find a programmer willing to help me on this project so I've put it on hold so I can work on other things.

With MegaUpload being taken down, the download link doesn't work anymore. Any chance of a new link?
