3d Links Awakening Character updates 9, 10, 11, and 12

Sorry for the delay, I have actually had these models ready to post for a few days but I have been busy visiting with family and friends.

Our first character up is the Like-Like, an enemy that want's nothing more then to eat your shields, forcing you to buy new ones.

Next up is the Goponga Cheep-Cheep, found in the Goponga swamp and in caves. I am just guessing for the name here, since I cant find them in any enemy list, and they look different from other Cheep-Cheeps in the game, they act differently too.

Normal Cheep-Cheeps are only found in side scrolling underwater segments and swim back and forth, Goponga Cheep-Cheeps are found in overhead areas and swim under the water with their fins sticking out (sorta like sharks) and leap out of the water to attack you.

Next is the Goponga Flower, I don't know if they are named for the swamp or if its the other way around. These flowers are annoyingly hard to kill, if I remember correctly only Bow-Wow and the flame rod can kill them.

Finally we have the Giant Goponga Flower, they are four times the size of a normal Goponga Flower, and have the ability to spit fire balls, or poison, or something roundish at you, they are just as hard to kill as normal Goponga Flowers.

The aforementioned Family visiting cut into my time working on Helix a lot more then I would have liked, sadly I believe it will be a no-show for this year.

3d Links Awakening Major update 4

Alright, our fourth Major Update. Fun fun.

Here is the Goponga Swamp, Location of the second Dungeon, the Bottle Grotto.
I believe this is the smallest area I've done so far, oh well, it was fun

As promised, here is a render of the completed portions of the Island, as well as all remaining areas. Be careful, it weighs in at 4000x3000 in size, plenty of detail for you.

The next few updates should be of enemies from the swamp, as well as a few more items.

Roots and water, so much to see here.

Getting close to the completion of the swamps and the next major update. You had better enjoy that one since, if I remember correctly, the next area up is MASSIVE, meaning no new major updates for a while (and by proxy, no new character, item, scenery, etc updates as well)

I think I will be ready to shed some more light on Project Helix around Christmas, no promises tho.

3d Links Awakening Character update 7, Turkey Day Edition

Triple update here, just because these three enemies are so similar

First up, the Green Zol, a very basic enemy. They hide under the ground and pop out to attack, they can be killed in one hit by pretty much any weapon.

Next, the Red Zol, very similar to the Green Zol, but doesnt hide underground. When you kill it you get...

The Gel, killing a Red Zol creates two Gels in its place. These are even weaker then Zols, they can't even hurt you, just slow you down a little.

I think that is it for enemies in this area, So I will start work on the Goponga Swamp.

The Moblin, servants of Ganon, they are...wait, Ganon isn't in this game, why are they here?

I don't know why Moblins are here, probably just serving as a generic enemy.

Next up are the red and blue Leevers

These buggers tend to hide out under the sand and pop out to attack any one that comes near them, the red ones tend to come at you in a straight line, while the blue ones like to zigzag. I think that just about does it for the beach enemies, so up next are the forest enemies.

Note: the above is not an excuse for why there haven't been any updates for a bit.

Note 2: My actual excuse is because I just got Gears 2 and the Dawn on War PC games/expansions. They have sucked away my free time like some big... free time... sucking... thing... yeah.

And I don not think I was clear in my last post. No, LA is not being abandoned for Helix. No, LA will not get shafted update wise by Helix. LA updates will continue at their normal rate (read: at least once a day unless I'm lazy or there is some form of problem) until it is complete.

3d Links Awakening Quadrant update 40

Quadrant C5 is complete

A little more info about the Metroid Project,
As you can probably tell, I am a Zelda fan. I am also a Mario fan, a Super Smash Bros fan, a Halo fan, a Metal Gear Solid fan, etc, etc. But above all else, I am a Metroid fan. The very first game I ever played was Super Metroid, and it remains as one of my favorite games of all time. (Right next to Link's Awakening, incidentally)

I have a very strong desire to work on a Metroid game (and I actually have twice in the past, but I'm not allowed to talk about those)
There is a problem however, Link's Awakening was released on the Gameboy and Gameboy color, neither of those games are on sale from Nintendo, only through eBay, and Game Haven.

They are not playable on the DS or the DSi, they cannot be downloaded on the VC, so me remaking them has absolutely zero effect on Nintendo's profits, meaning they are less likely to give me the C&D order.

Metroid and Super Metroid however, are readily available on the VC, bring Nintendo lots of eMonies, trying to remake either of those would be very risky. Metroid II: Return of Samus is in the same boat as Link''s Awakening, however there are at least two remakes of it in the works (And it's my second least favorite Metroid game (I Hate Fusion) mostly due to the lack of a map and the fact that I can't find my cart) so remaking that wouldn't be as special.

So what game will the Metroid Project (hereafter referred to as Project Helix) be? Well, you will just have to wait, right now I am drawing up concept art and the beginnings of an area, but this is not a project I can do alone, I will need programmers and animators and musicians, etc. When I am ready to begin actual production of Helix, when I am ready to seek partners to help me create this, I will post a 'wanted' ad on this site that will list the requirements and specifications of this game and an invitation for people who wish to help with the programming and animating, etc, to step up and apply, around this time I will also be opening up a MithosK-Games forum to allow open discussion of the two ongoing projects.

Blarg this week has been Hell, wanna know why?

Last Friday: Computer starts freezing every time I open a Internet Browser, among other things

Saturday: Max and Photoshop gain tens of minutes long load times, I post my issues on PCPitstop

Sunday: WD Disk Checker tool detects Read/Write errors on Hard Drive and is unable to fix them. PCPitstop recommends replacing the Hard Drive.
So I head down to Staples, as they are the only place in town open on a Sunday that sells Hard drives. They said they could install the new drive for $40, and transfer up to 10 gigs from my current Hard Drive for $100, and this is on top of the cost for the Hard Drive

Screw that, I say as I buy a Hard Drive that I thought was the same as my current one, I'll install it my self!

Nope! The Hard Drive I bought has the wrong connectors for my computer, yay! And Staples is closing in five minutes so I'm stuck with it.

I end up borrowing an old 80 gig that was lying around, I reformat that, install windows, then goto bed.

Monday: Get up at 6am inorder to get to work by my 9am start time, get off work at 5:30pm, get home at 6:30 pm.

My G1 phone has apparently arrived early, so I happily go to start it up only to find that it doesnt detect my SIM card, a quick(lol) call to customer service tells me that it should be working by Wednesday. Fun. I start my computer to find that it thinks that the H drive is the main drive, and Flash wont instal because it thinks I have less then five free megs on my Hard Drive. Its shaping up to be a fun week.

Tuesday: Get up at 6am inorder to get to work by my 9am start time, get off work at 5:30pm, head to programming class at 7pm. Get out of class at 10pm, go home. Sleep.

Wednesday: Get up at 6am inorder to get to work by my 9am start time, get off work at 5:30pm, G1 is still not working, I call Tech Support and after some back and forth they say just ship it back for a new one, fair enough, I'm about to get the return info when my current crappy phone drops the connection.

I spend the next two hours on the phone, being told the same things I had gone over before, just trying to get my G1 replaced, granted only about half an hour of that was actually spent talking to some one, the rest of it was spent on hold, being shited between no less then five departments.

I hate Tech Support.

So now I have to mail back my G1, at my own expence, before they ship out my new one. (Can you hear my screams of frustration yet?)

Tired and angry I decide to reformat my computer and try reinstalling windows again. No luck.
Screw it, off to bed.

Thursday: Get up at 6am inorder to get to work by my 9am start time, get off work at 5:30pm, head to programming class at 7pm. Get out of class at 8pm, go home. The Sweeney Todd knife I ordered for Halloween has arrived, and the blade is stuck in the folded position. Gods DAMNIT. IT IS AS IF EVERYTHING THAT I OWN HAS DECIDED TO HATE ME AT THE SAME TIME.

Anyway, I belive I found a solution to the H Drive problem, so I will be spending tommarrow after work on that, then I will attempt to reinstal Max and Photoshop. Updates will resume after that. I have learned to stop giving out ETAs as something always pops up to make them so very WRONG.

Possible problems

I am experiencing some problems with my computer, specifically all my internet browsers freeze up after a short period of time (I.E. seems to last the longest) which eventually leads to a total system crash, I'm kinda afraid to open Max.

Oh, and my monitor/hdtv will not recognize my dvi to hdmi cable, forcing me to stare at blurry and hard to read text.

Welcome to the Mysterious Woods, the third major area our hero visits on his quest.

I'm not sure how much I like that fog, I may go back and completely change it

3d Links Awakening Major Update 2

As of 6:18 am Sunday October 5th Toronbo Shores is complete! Which means in just over a month two of the nineteen major areas have been completed!

Quadrant E15, only major interest here is that this area contains a monkey that throws coconuts and bombs at you.

Quadrant E16, a seemingly empty cave awaits you here, what secrets does it hold?

Quadrant F15, this area serves as an entrance to Martha's Bay

Quadrant F16, this secluded part of the beach is Marin's favorite place to visit

The whole of Koholint Island as far, we will be heading North into the Mysterious Woods next!
