Eagle's Tower Contest final talley

Before we being, I have to say, I am disappointed in some of you. I approve every comment before it will appear on the site, and for the most part the only comments I reject are spam comments made to 3 month old posts, but during this contest I rejected multiple comments talking about how bad entry 2 was and some telling the creator to "go kill himself". This is not cool guys.

Constructive criticism is always welcome, but this is a project blog for a remake of an E rated game, hateful comments and out right attacks against people will not be appreciated. The fact that you will be able to easily change any texture in the game on release just makes this all the more pathetic. If you don't like something say it without being a dick or don't say it at all.

In light of this and other reasons, there won't be any more polls/contests for a while.

With that out of the way, here are our final numbers for the contest:

Entry 1: 28 votes
Entry 2: 121 votes
Entry 3: 124 votes
Entry 4: 10 votes
Entry 5: 30 votes

Which makes Entry 3 by Paolo our winner! Congratulations Paolo!

For those wondering, here are the reasons why I chose each finalist:

1. Interesting design, even if it is lacking in some detail, supprisingly, the only submission I got with an Eagle in the center.

2. While all other submissions where in shades of green and mostly contained references to the Wind Fish, this one took a completely separate route, and actually got me thinking about having some form of thunder storm going on during the battle. Although I would probably make the raindrops swirling towards the center instead of straight up and down (and maybe a new cloud) this submission was chosen for its originality, and not as a joke as some have assumed.

3. A really great, if traditional, submission. It fits in with the rest of the tower really well and has a great central design.

4. Another design that doesn't follow the Wind Fish/Eagle style that most went with. Rather simple, but I like it, might work better on a light house or in some form of sun temple...

5. My personal favorite, a really great design and an awesome take on the Wind Fish, only real problem is the outer bricks don't blend well with the rest of the tower, but I would love to use this Wind Fish design elsewhere, maybe in the egg...

Nils, Roland, Mr. Burgundy, and Katie, with your permission, I would like to find other places in the game where your textures would fit.

Thanks for all the votes, and thanks for the contest MithosK. I have enjoyed following your blog over the years and i am not one to really let my presence be known unless it is for a good reason. I would like to apologize for the stir that the entry i submitted caused. If you would like to use entry 2, i am more then happy to step down from the number 1 spot. If you would like any help with anything on your game i would love to be a consideration for that. I give this win, the credit and the little glory that comes from it to my Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ! But, this is not the testimony He or I intended to come from this. The win was to prove His power to you and anyone else this would be shared with. I hope you allow this post to be shown, but understand if you will not. It would be more glorious for the Lord to show humility that God expects from His servants, whom He has allowed me to be by His grace, then to boast in the outcome. Please accept this as my dropping out of the contest and if you still use it, that's fine but if so, My intent was to give thanks, glory and credit to God and all the hate that came from this towards anyone of the entries has not done so. I am sorry for bringing in powers and principalities into this innocent fan project of a game that, in some way, God the Father used the good in to point me to salvation in his Son. The road for a Christian is hard and full of devils and demons who's sole purpose is to make rot what blessings God gives his children in this life. Proof positive for one of many reasons why He has told me, and many others, to store up treasures in heaven instead where moth and rust dwell. This is my lot because i love Jesus for what he did for me and all of us. To suffer for Him is an honer so I gladly forfeit my win. He received no glory from this because it was tainted by the sins of vanity, pride, hidden agenda and hatred. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to request this action. Praise God, you all are in my prayers, and I hope to find you all saved and born again of the spirit! (He's coming back soon Matt 24: 1-51 all the earthquakes point to verse 7)

I'm a little surprised that entry 2 was received that badly. It was my second favorite.

You know Paolo, I respect your beliefs and everything but don't you think that was a little over the top? :P

I don't mean to disrespect you or anything. I'm just saying.

Having read Paolo's absurd essay, I would like to retract my vote for his texture.

:D Really!? Thanks! The bricks don't mesh...because I was going for an old-school look, but I didn't realize how it would look in 3D, otherwise I'd have made it mesh better. ^^'

But yeah, go ahead and use it somewhere else! I'd be flattered!
