3Ds Link's Awakening Character Update 2c

Alright, here we go, the textured model.

You may notice that I've changed the arms, as well as reduced the size of the nose a bit

Smaller size, closer to what you would see in game

And as an extra treat, a quick Dark Link

Comments and crits, I love to here them

EDIT: Minor update, Drastically rescaled the nose, and lowered the eyes in the texture, what do you guys think, is this bad boy ready for ACTION?

He is so cute, until he BOMB-ARROWs YOU! IN THE FACE!

EDIT 2: Alright, after going over things with a few contacts, and multiple edits to the texture and model, I present what I hope is the last revision:

I leave it up to you, keep the model and texture as is and move on to more updates, or continue working on the link model?

This looks MUUUUCH better than your first one. By far. I gotta say though, something still bugs me about the face... Like, his nose looks tacked on rather than a part of his face... And his eyes/hair look too high on his head (I might be wrong on this part). I dunno, there's just something that doesn't feel like the same Link in that pic.

I keep referring to Alyx's model on the other model's comments, and I have to say that one's face strikes a chord with me. I don't wanna say use someone else's work, but that one seems to look more like LA Link. ._.

Doesn't fit the LA style at all..

I'd actually say reduce the size of the body & youve got it

I like the first one better

Woah Woah are you going to go with the wind waker link? I know I'm just one guy and really it just keeps meaning more work for you but this doesn't fit the LA style. At least stick with the brown hair link. If you wanted to take it a step farther
you could do what someone else said and make the body a tad bit smaller.

I hate to sit here and criticize you because you are doing a really cool thing and an amazing job, but LA was my favorite Zelda game of all time and I want this to be the best it can be.

I really love the fact you are taking fan input into consideration, and just know that even if you are getting criticisms we all appreciate what you are doing, and I personally can't wait to see how this turns out.

OK after looking at all of the models you have done so far I have to say edit2 is the best, the short legs really go with the chibi style you are going for I think. I really hope you know I say all this with the utmost respect.

Anyway last time I talked about changing the arms you did it, but maybe I should have been more clear about what I was talking about. Right now they are L shaped, if you can change that it would help the model a lot I think, if you can change them then maybe you should try something like /(__)\
-- that.
I hope you can understand what I mean by that but if you can't I can draw it out for you.

Good luck!~☼

Honestly I prefer the first version on this post the most =]

I think the big nose is a large part of the LA sprite (though I think you should make it part of the head mesh instead of separate from it).

The arms need some work... why do they pinch inwards at the elbows?

Do you model the arms in the 'T' pose and then bend them when you render them? Or do you model them bent like that?

You can get pretty good low poly arms (that deform nicely) for about 24 polys. I can show you if you want =].

I also think the proportions need some work. Going by the LA sprite, Links head is the same size as the rest of his body.

So you need to make your models body wider and shorter. Make the arms (and legs) thicker too (this is going off the first version btw).

Much improvement over your first version though!

Hope this was helpful too.

Hey Alyx you really like the huge nose? I don't think it look awful by any means, it's just that it looks like like a beak, you have have a big nose and still have it not look beak like, look at link from OoT he had that sharp big nose but it was thinner you know.

Oh and just to clear it up when I said I like edit2 I was talking about that one. you might make the nose a BIT bigger but I think it's the best of the now models.

Keep up the good work

Alright, I've decided to set it up so you can choose between LA link (brown hair, dark green tunic), Toon Link (Blond hair, bright green tunic) or LttP Link (pink-purple hair, dark brown tunic) and possibly the ability to edit the skin to your choosing, ala GTA3. I will continue making minor updates to the model its self and posting updates on it when relevant, but I will be switching focus to other areas for the time being

alright MithosKuu that's an awesome plan! I can't wait to see what you do next.
